Beginning Ballroom and Latin Session 1
A five week course that makes dancing easy and most of all fun! Within five weeks we guarantee that you will have a better understanding of how to lead and follow basic steps in five different dances and how to get around on a crowded dance floor.
Beginning Ballroom and Latin Session 2
Add new moves and new dances in three five week sessions. We have designed this class so you can join any session after completing Beginning Ballroom and Latin 1.
Ballroom
For one month, we stick with one dance, giving you a more focused experience than with our Beginner-1/Beginner-2
dance series. The schedule for 2008 is available here.
Bronze
For those that have completed our four Beginning Ballroom classes, this class offers more patterns with a greater
emphasis on technique and style. Complete our bronze classes and you'll look like a dancer and be ready to handle almost any social dance situation with poise.
Line Dancing
Drop in and warm up every Friday this February with a fun set of dances that don't require a partner. We'll teach a mix of party favorites, Jack's line dance, and one or two you probably haven't seen before. Starting in March, we will have our beginning swing class in this time slot.
Friday Evening Drop-In
Every Friday evening we offer two 45-minute dance classes which vary from week to week. You can start any week, skip when you need to skip, and in a few weeks experience a wide variety of dances. These are beginner-level classes, but if the class masters the lesson easily, we'll add more advanced figures. The second class taught in the evening becomes the first class taught the following Friday, so you have the opportunity to practice what you learn. Starting in February, instead of the drop-in classes, we will have line-dancing every Friday.
Private Lessons
If you have a specific item you want to work on, a special event to prepare for, or you just want to learn at your own
pace and according to your own schedule, then private lessons are for you. We can develop a choreographed routine for you using music you pick out, making our private lessons very popular with wedding couples.
Beginner Swing
You can dance swing to a variety of musical styles, including blues, country, big band and contemporary pop. It is easy to learn and a fun way to stay active. We have a great venue for swing dancing right here in Naperville, in Frankie's Blue Room, not to mention the dance parties here at the studio. In this class you will learn the basic figures for Jitterbug and East Coast Swing. We vary the lessons from session to session, making the class worth repeating until you are comfortable with the material and ready to move to intermediate swing.
Intermediate Swing
Expand your dance vocabulary with new moves, and add styling, musicality and the ability to improvise. This is an open-ended, ongoing class which you can join any week.
Latin
We teach merengue, salsa, rumba, cha cha, bolero, bachata, mambo, samba, and Argentine tango. Each session runs for 4 weeks and the particular dances we teach each session will be strongly influenced by class interest.
Beginner Salsa
Learn the rhythm and the steps of the hottest dance in the country. We vary the some of the patterns you'll learn
from session to session, while reinforcing the essentials, to keep the class fun 'til you're ready for intermediate
salsa. We also offer 3 hour intensive salsa and bachata workshops taught by Jed Walker (see below).
Intermediate Salsa
Learn more salsa moves and improve your styling so you can go out to the clubs with confidence.
Salsa & Bachata Workshops
Learn to dance in one day, or substantially improve on what you already know. Hot, exciting dance moves that will
turn heads and get you noticed.
Two Step
Fun and easy patterns for country two-step. The teacher presents dance concepts that will improve your dancing.
West Coast Swing
Learn fun and easy patterns for this slotted version of swing dancing. The teacher presents dance concepts that
will improve your dancing.
Romance of Waltz
This is a four week class designed to give beginner and intermediate dancers a selection of fun and easy moves that you can use at any venue. (We also offer a second four-week session that builds on what you learn in session one).
3 step hustle
Learn the necessities of "Hustle, the easy way", in two 2-week sessions for beginners and intermediate dancers.
Beginner Belly Dance
This bellydance class covers the basics for tribal improvisational dance. Learn basic steps and their turns, cues and transitions between movements and basic formation changes. This class may or may not include zil (finger
cymbal) instruction. This fun class is just what you need to boost confidence, make friends, or it can be your weekly low-impact workout.
Intermediate Belly Dance
After learning the basic movements and concepts of improvisational tribal dance, dancers will advance their dance vocabulary with fancy new moves and turns. A few new group formations will also be introduced. Dancers will be encouraged and inspired to use their creativity in producing their improvisational dance.
Create your own class
Get a few of your friends together, pick the day, the time, and the style of dance you would like to work on, and we will create a class specially for you! (Minimum of three couples).
Practice Party
Our parties on the second and fourth Fridays of the month allow you to try out the steps you are learning in your lessons and meet some of the other students. After our line dance class, we dim the lights, bring out refreshments, and have a great time. We play music for swing, salsa, waltz, foxtrot and all the other dances we offer. Sometimes we'll have an impromptu mini-lesson. All are welcome, and the party is just $5 - current students and their first-time guests can attend for free!
(You can read brief descriptions of the various dances here).
