Medal Testing
At Two Left Feet Dance Clubs we offer an exciting way for you to measure
your achievements in dancing known as Medal testing. Medal testing is a beneficial way of improving your standard of dancing:
·
Assessments offer a wonderful
goal-directed program, which provides motivation to develop your dance skills.
Working toward a specific assessment provides great motivation to maintain your
active involvement with classes.
·
There is a steady measurement of
progress with the Medal Program. Successful candidates receive a certificate of
achievement. The entire experience gives you concrete recognition
of accomplishment, which you would otherwise miss by merely coming in for weekly
classes.
·
Assessments provide a super
teaching tool. Students who commit to the scrutiny of an assessor will work
harder to eliminate faults and to master problem areas in their dancing.
·
Great prestige. The Assessment
Program provides dancers with the
assurance that the institution where they receive their lessons trains its
students to a high standard. To be a part of such a program gives the student an
additional sense of pride and loyalty.
·
By using the graduated series of
goals, it can be determined if you have mastered a particular skill level before
being introduced to a higher level.
Let me put to rest a common misconception about
medal testing-it is neither an oral, nor a written examination with probative
questions about the rules and intricacies of technique. Instead you (with your
partner, or teacher, or somebody else’s partner or any other available person)
will simply be asked to dance to the music until the Examiner tells you to stop.
That’s not to say you’re supposed to know (and be able to demonstrate)
the correct technique, as indeed you are. In fact that’s the very purpose of
taking the tests-to demonstrate your proficiency at technique!
Must you be a competitor to take medal tests? Not at all! The beauty
of the medal tests is that they offer a way to monitor your progress.
Unlike competitions, where you could be at the mercy of other peoples
floorcraft (of lack there of), its just you, the examiner, and the music. When
you’re in school , you take tests to measure your progress, don’t you? So why
not in dancing too? It’s very reasonably priced indeed! You must start with the
Social Ease medal test and move your way up the ladder. I can personally
guarantee that it will make you a better dancer. Want to know more? Ask your
private lesson teacher or Pamm.
What is the absolutely best thing of all about introducing incorporating Medal
Tests into our dance programs? It is because they will-without the shadow of a
doubt elevate the level of dancing in the country. Guaranteed. It’ll take a
while, but you just watch!
